ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION

The Association was established in the year 1986 and has been affiliated to the Rowing Federation of India since the beginning. It has produced many eminent international, national rowers and coaches since then.

OBJECTIVES

Identifying potential and dedicated athletes, and providing elite training to perform well in the national and international arena.
Popularizing the sport and expanding it to other parts of the State.
Enrolling athletes, including talent identification programs and giving importance to Grass Root athletes.

Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association (KARA), was founded in 1986 by Shri G Somashekarappa with a view to building rowing as a sport in Karnataka. Spearheaded by him and his visions Karnataka has come far in the sport. Dronacharya awardees, International medalists have risen from our state. KARA has hosted many National and International Championships in the city's lakes as well. Trishna Club at Ulsoor Lake along with KARA hosted Sub Junior National Rowing Championships in the recent past where Karnataka emerged as all-around champions.

MADIVALA ROWING CENTRE

The Madivala Rowing Centre, comparatively being a new rowing center in the city is looking forward to establishing its grounds & training passionate athletes who want to take up Rowing as their sport.

TRISHNA CLUB, ULSOOR LAKE

The Karnataka Amateur Rowing Association and the MEG & Centre at Trishna Club have enjoyed a long-standing history in regard to rowing. The center is not currently open to civilians. Any updates regarding this will be posted.

KARA COLORS

The oars are painted in yellow and red symbolizing the Karnataka flag. The 'gandaberunda', a two-headed bird is the logo of the Association (along with it being official emblem of the Karnataka state government). It symbolizes strength.
